However, in your garage, anything that reflects lighting is a good thing because it will increase the effect of whatever lights you have, and may make the installation of more lighting unnecessary. If this is a goal of yours, be sure to choose your garage floor finish carefully. Dark colored epoxy paint won’t reflect light nearly as well as white garage floor tiles.

No, we’re not talking about happy face tiling or anything, I promise. It’s not all that hard to believe, if you think about it. Consider buying a nice, new car, and then parking it on boring old concrete as opposed to a nice, shiny garage flooring. I’m no psychologist, but I bet that on a list of the most depressing colors, gray is pretty high up. Also, consider the plethora of studies out there talking about how color affects our moods. Patterns can have a more complex effect. A car racing fan would probably love nothing more than to work on his car on a checkerboard garage floor tile. Working on a car can get pretty frustrating.
