It was the first affordable hybrid car to hit the markets and has been sold quite successfully. Honda and Lexus came out with their versions of hybrid cars later. European and American car makers have also announced their plans for producing hybrid cars. Some of the manufacturers have displayed their hybrid cars at motor shows and have announced their launch as well.

Hybrid cars are the vehicles, powered by the combination of the internal combustion engine and the electric drive motors. The cars are self-recharging by the engine and the brakes. These cars are efficiently designed to achieve improved fuel efficiency, with reduced greenhouse gas and tailpipe emissions.
